Department: Employment Education and Training
Location: Albuquerque
Salary: $21.42 Hourly
FT/PT Status: Reg Part Time

Summary:
BA Degree (from Accredited University or College) in Education, or related of study, plus 1 year of experience teaching, experience in vocational education with high risk high school students preferred. Will implement program training and instruction of students. Must be able to read, write, understand & speak English.

Job Description:

HSE INSTRUCTOR: Plans and develops and open entry individual learning package to train students in the HSE Prep Program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

BA Degree in Education or related field of study. One (1) year experience teaching. Experience in vocational education with high risk high school students preferred.

JOB CHARACTERISTICS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This is a professional position which requires organizational and communication skills, as well as judgment, tact and diplomacy in contacts with YDI employees, community residents, parents and local government agencies. Strict adherence is required to all regulation concerning confidentiality.

Background investigation to include fingerprinting will be required. Physical and TB Skin test is required upon hire, and may be required intermittently. Frequent travel is required by employee and proof of satisfactory car insurance is required.

Youth Development, Inc. is an at-will employer. Employment is by mutual consent of the company and employee, and either may terminate the relationship at any time with of without cause or advance notice. This job is contingent upon funding; however, availability of funding is not a guarantee of continued employment, nor does it imply any specific term of employment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Not Inclusive):

  1. Organize a detailed curriculum for the course, including entry and exit requirements.

  2. Implement program training and instruction of students.

  3. Maintains student attendance records, prepares student evaluations, and prepares other related reports to YDI.

  4. Coordinates with counselors and job developers to assist students with personal problems and job placement.

  5. Maintains adequate supplies on hand, assures that equipment is in working order.

  6. Participates and cooperates in school or YDI activities promoting education.

  7. Gives required advance notice of students status and recommends students for HSE test.

  8. Other duties as assigned.

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

    Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Director.
