DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The Information Systems Auditor will develop detailed audit programs for information systems and networks

within the Gila River Indian Community, to verify that internal controls are in place and functioning. The IS

Auditor will also develop and maintain audit software that verifies logical access based on job title and/or job

description, this will include software updates/upgrades. The Information Systems Auditor will also create an

audit program, audit testing, and audit reports relating to information systems (software) guidelines, with

recommendations to ensure system/software is established and monitoring controls are in place and functioning.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Develop and execute Information Technology (IT) audits that include a review of standard operating

procedures regarding development, deployment, and cyber-security relating to preventive, detective, and

corrective controls. This includes communication with department oversight to explain audit testing with

recommendations for system/network improvement as it relates to logical and physical access, back-up,

recovery, and continuity of business.

  • Develop Information Technology (IT) risk assessment for the Gila River Indian Community’s (Community’s)

operating systems/networks to ensure mitigating controls are established. This includes analyzing the

Community’s hardware/software to ensure internal controls are in place and functioning with

recommendations for system updates/upgrades and conversion of systems to ensure data is not lost.

  • Conduct operational, compliance, financial, performance, and investigative audits as requested by

Committee(s), Council, or Community Treasurer. These audits include compiling data to conduct audit

testing, describing testing and results in audit work-papers. Once audit is completed, compile data results into

audit findings and create the report of audit recommendations.

  • Provide training using data analysis software (IDEA) for financial analysis (i.e., gap detection, correlation,

trend analysis); sampling (i.e., systematic, random, summarization, stratification) and comparing (i.e., join,

append, visual connector). This training will include basic steps for the conversion of PDF, CVS, Notebook,

or Images to Excel or Word format to complete financial analysis and audit procedures.
