THIS IS A REMOTE ROLE
The Instructional Designer (ID) will support all phases of the instructional design and human performance improvement interventions with Orbis Educations educational partners. He or she should have experience and expertise in the development of online learning that incorporates various media (e.g., audio, video, interactive learning objects, animations). The Instructional Designer is responsible for creating designs that will enhance online education. He or she also acts as a project manager for the instructional design of an entire educational program, as well as the instructional design expert for assigned educational partners. The Instructional Designer works in collaboration with the Program Director, SMEs, E-Learning Developers, and E-Learning Managers to evaluate the design and make recommendations to enhance the entire student experience.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Partner with subject matter experts (SME) to create effective online instruction
- Specify learning outcomes and create instructional materials using the ADDIE model
- Create instructional material for students such as online labs, quizzes and other various materials for the students benefit
- Create teaching materials for instructors such as instructor/participant guides, job aids, and help train instructors to use materials
- Work with healthcare faculty to design, storyboard and produce interactive instructional materials
- Use elearning authoring tools to create reusable learning objects and interactive lectures
- Work with programmers and SMEs to create complex learning activities/simulations that support learning outcomes
- Build relationships with healthcare faculty to encourage engagement in teaching in an online educational program
Build online courses using various Learning Management Systems (LMS)
- Use Blackboard, Canvas, or other LMS to create effective online courses
- Provide recommendations on settings and layout that will provide the best student experience in an online/hybrid educational program
Participate in faculty development for online teaching
- Teach faculty about best practices for online learning
- Partner with the faculty trainer to assist with creation of training materials
Project manage the instructional design process from start to finish for an educational program
- Manage all aspects of the instructional design (ADDIE) process for an assigned partner(s)
- Create timelines and schedules for SMEs and internal staff to ensure on-time delivery of courses
- Communicate expectations, deadlines, progress, and risks to projects managers and the Product Development team
- Maintain instructional integrity through the implementation and review of formal evaluation methods
- Act as support for assigned accounts for questions and improvement opportunities related to instructional design and program management
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Competencies:
- Ability to design education and training solutions
- Knowledge of adult learning principles
- Strong project management skills
- Basic data analysis and evaluation skills
- Expertise in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat
- Proficiency in graphic editing tools, HTML, and elearning authoring tools preferred
Experience:
- 2-4 years of instructional design experience preferred
- Prior experience with subject matter experts (SME)
- Previous knowledge and experience using elearning authoring tools and learning management systems
Education and Certification:
- Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or Instructional Technology preferred
- Certifications in technologies or education
