Major/Essential Functions

• Provides academic and clinical instruction within the Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing
• Plans, coordinates, and conducts classroom and clinical experiences for students
• Participates in scholarly and academic activities appropriate for rank
• Reports directly to the assistant dean
• Maintains academic standards as established by the school and the university
• Teaches students in the clinical, laboratory, and classroom settings
• Assumes responsibility for and/or participates in the planning and organization of courses to which assigned
• Provides academic advising/counseling to assigned students
• Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of school, program, course and student activities
• Plans professional development activities for self, such as continuing education offering workshops, professional meetings, etc.
• Participates in program, school, university committees, and in other activities associated with professional status
• Maintains membership in and serves as a member of more than one (1) professional organization
• Incorporates new knowledge and techniques in clinical, classroom, and laboratory teaching
• Conducts research or practice activities appropriate to rank
• Displays a scholarly orientation to the assumption of the responsibilities of a university faculty member as defined in the guidelines of qualification for faculty appointment rank
• Performs other duties assigned

Preferred Qualifications

• Two (2) years of teaching experience in a nursing program or hospital education
• Expertise in medical surgical nursing
• DNP or PhD in nursing related discipline
• Demonstrated leadership skills related to coordination of teaching
• Effective verbal/written communication skills and proficiency in English language
• Demonstrate knowledge of curriculum and instructional design and implementation
• Demonstrate achievement in scholarly and research activities
• Awareness of current issues/trends in nursing and higher education

Required Qualifications

• Masters of Sciences in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program
• Minimum of two (2) years clinical experience
• Evidence of basic knowledge of instructional process and basic knowledge of educational evaluation techniques
• Licensure as a Registered nurse in the State of Texas or compact state recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing
