Intake Coordinator - Clinician

Position Overview:

New Alternatives, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and skilled Intake Coordinator - Clinician to perform intake assessments and coordinate transitions into treatment across various outpatient programs. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills familiarity with SmartCare as the Electronic Health Record (EHR), and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse program managers and teams.

This position requires that the individual has a master's degree and is license-eligible under the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct clinical intakes for individuals referred to outpatient programs, assessing needs according to program-specific levels of care and scope of practice.
  • Perform comprehensive mental health assessments, including risk assessment, treatment planning, and initial goal setting.
  • Coordinate seamless and warm handoffs to the clinician or program responsible for ongoing treatment, in some cases
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in SmartCare, ensuring compliance with clinical and agency standards.
  • Collaborate with program managers to ensure appropriate placement of clients based on clinical needs and program capacity.
  • Provide clients and families with clear explanations of program services, expectations, and initial treatment recommendations.
  • Facilitate or participate in program-specific training to stay updated on intake processes, program scope, and clinical best practices.
  • Monitor and manage intake workflows to meet productivity and quality assurance standards.

Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Must be license-eligible in California as an LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC under the BBS.
  • Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in mental health or related fields.

Experience conducting intakes and mental health assessments is preferred.

Proficiency with SmartCare EHR is required and can be achieved through onboard training

Skills:

  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, including knowledge of DSM-5-TR/ICD-10 criteria.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and maintain organization in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective documentation and team collaboration.
  • Competence in working with culturally diverse populations.

Work Environment:

  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Starting salary range, depending on experience, education, and language abilities: 73K-79K yearly.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $73,000.00 - $79,000.00 per year
