What Success Looks Like In This Job

The Intern/Recruitment & Retention Supervisor is responsible for the oversight of the development and implementation of the internship program and recruitment/retention of staff for the Children and Family Services Division. To coordinate, recruit and supervise interns and staff. To work in conjunction with the Learning and Development Supervisors and provide learning opportunities for employees through in-person, E-trainings, individual and group coaching, workshops, mentoring, field support, professional development support and planning, and other learning and development methods. Provide oversight to interns to set the groundwork to be inspired, challenged, and motivated to perform the functions of positions to the standards established by the State of Colorado and Adams County CFS division. Provide interns and those seeking career advancement with the tools they need to develop professionally, increase their knowledge, effectively work with families, and build their capacity to perform the tasks associated with positions within Adams CFS division. Oversee implementation strategies, methods, and techniques to ensure that desired learning outcomes are being achieved. This supervisor shall have an extensive knowledge of the child welfare system while staying on the forefront of any county, state, federal practice, policy or legislative change.

Examples of Duties for Success

  • Development of an annual strategic plan regarding recruitment and retention of staff within the CFS division.
  • Development of strategic recruitment efforts with local and surrounding state colleges and universities.
  • Track and measure the efficacy of recruitment and selection practices for interns and new staff and pursue continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the administrator, subject matter expert, and resident trainer for the on-boarding platform and oversee the process.
  • Develop measurement tool and project plans regarding placement of interns and quality of hire.
  • Establish relationships, coordination, creation, implementation and oversight of outreach and education.
  • Ensure adequate levels of observation, feedback, and supervision to promote best possible child welfare practices.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to interns which includes observing in the field and over the shoulder support on data systems.
  • Serve as a liaison between education programs and the CFS division. Including ongoing communication between the school education manager and CFS.
  • Establish schedules, performance appraisals, and methods for training of interns within CFS.
  • Attend recruitment and program events.
  • Develop newsletters, brochures, flyers, public service announcements, and talking points for recruitment of child welfare professionals.
  • Assist with communication tools and strategies related to all aspects of social media and provide information regarding major events.
  • Work along side the CFS learning and development team to ensure consistence in practice and coaching.
  • Provide in-person, e-trainings, on-the-job training, and coaching, including support around career development.
  • Collaborate with the Colorado Department of Human Services Child Welfare Learning and Development team to ensure certifications.
  • Create training plans for all interns.
  • Review, evaluate and implement strategies regarding the interview and hiring selection process.
Qualifications for Success

  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and supervise interns in all aspects of child welfare
  • Provide guidance and assistance to interns and employees.
  • Available to provide assistance to interns and employees afterhours as needed.
  • Prepare annual reports, data, and strategic plans regarding recruitment, retention, and internship program.
  • Formally enforce all policy, procedures, laws, and statutes.
  • Monthly and quarterly program statistics.
  • Obtain and/or maintain child welfare supervisor certification.
  • Ability to provide effective leadership.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external agency staff at all levels.
  • Ability to direct and coordinate projects and programs, including practice training, coaching, and support to the division.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of child welfare including but not limited to the Colorado Code of Regulations Social Services Rules (Volume VII) and Colorado Revised Statutes and Title 19 Childrens Code.
  • Ability to conduct stand and deliver trainings.
More Qualifications for Success

Experience: 5 years of professional casework experience, three of which must be in a supervisory role

Education: A Masters degree in social work.

License and/or Certification:

  • License Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or ability to obtain an LCSW within one year of employment.
  • Preferred- Colorado Child Welfare Supervisor Certification and Colorado Child Welfare Social Caseworker Certification

Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check.

Other:

  • Ability to work in a standard office environment.
  • Ability to utilize personal vehicle or other mode of transportation to make visits to client's homes, travel to court and other public facilities in all types of weather.
  • Ability to lift and carry (1-50 lbs.) infants and small children in the care and custody of the County, as well as the ability to carry large case files.
  • Ability to conduct home visits in unknown and uncontrolled settings which may include animals, feces, airborne contaminants, gang members, weapons, and other environmental hazards.
