INTERVENTION SPECIALIST: Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager. Will organize and coordinate program activities and advocacy services for youth who are involved in gangs or at-risk for gang involvement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalency, and four (4) years direct work experience in the duties listed below. Knowledge of gangs and their issues. Broad knowledge and experience in working with gang involved youth and their families. Must keep abreast of the latest information regarding gangs. Must establish an effective working relationship with YDI staff and other agencies. Extensive knowledge of community resources and ability to work efficiently with public and private agency professionals. Broad knowledge of assessment, service planning and service coordination in working with adolescents and families.
JOB CHARACTERISTICS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This is a professional position, which requires organizational, and communication skills, as well as judgment, tact and diplomacy in contacts with YDI employees, community residents, parents and local government agencies. Strict adherence is required to all regulation and concerning confidentiality. Good general health. Background investigation to include fingerprinting will be required. Physical and TB Skin test is required upon hire, and may be required intermittently. Frequent travel is required by employee and proof of satisfactory car insurance is required. Non-traditional hours required.
