Position Summary

The Office of International Admissions and Recruitment-a unit within in The Global Education Office (GEO)- is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented, results driven individual to join our team. If you enjoy working with international students, and would like to contribute to UNMs global mission, we would love to speak with you. You must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident due to required compliance with U.S. Department of Homeland Security regulations for the Designed School Official status. This position involves local, state, and international travel, as well as periodic evening and/or weekend work hours during peak periods.

  • Review all international documents to determine authenticity and accreditation of institutions using a variety of research methods
  • Competently analyze academic records from educational systems worldwide
  • Admit qualified undergraduate students and review and route graduate student applications to appropriate departments for final approval
  • Generate immigration documents for newly admitted international students through the role of Designated School Official
  • Assist with recruitment outreach efforts, including some travel and non-standard working hours, to attract more international applicants to the University

Conditions of Employment
  • Ability to travel by vehicle or air, locally, statewide and/or out of state.
  • A valid driver's license, or ability to obtain a valid driver's license within thirty days of hire, is required for this job.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience and interest in digital marketing & recruitment
  • Previous experience in higher education admissions and/or recruitment
  • Prior experience in foreign credential evaluation
  • Knowledge of immigration regulations relating to F1 and J1 visa holders
  • Active experience issuing I-20 and DS-2019 immigration documents
  • Bilingual or high proficiency in a language besides English (ideally fluency in: Mandarin, Vietnamese, Korean or Arabic)
  • Ability to navigate a student information system such as Banner
  • Have lived and/or traveled outside the U.S.


Additional Requirements This position will require a pre-employment criminal background check. Future and/or continued employment in the position is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining a satisfactory background check, which is one that does not include any disqualifying findings.Official transcripts, High school diploma, or GED certificate will be required for hire. Please see minimum qualifications for specifics.Must have a valid New Mexico Drivers License at the time of hire and two years experience driving in the U.S. Candidates must take and pass UNMs online Defensive Driving Course within 30 days of hire.
