DEPARTMENT: Business Operations

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Position reports to Materials Technical Coordinators and is responsible for pulling, filling, requisition and delivery of items to departments; receiving, sorting, distributing mail; maintaining supply levels, and involvement in periodic cycle counts. The Inventory Associate II will act as a mentor to new Inventory team members and may provide coverage at the warehouse, should a Materials Technical Coordinator be unavailable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned. Management retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time.

  • Display competence in handling all areas of the Inventory Associate I responsibilities and assist in the transition, training, and mentoring of new Inventory Team members.
  • Pull, fill and deliver supply requisitions to departments and/or facilities and pick up/deliver supplies at the donor sites and facilities in a safe and courteous manner. Deliver all received goods to proper departments, and/or stock supplies on warehouse shelves.
  • Ensure that all transported items are handled carefully and in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Identify and resolve non-routine issues relating to receiving and supply orders, assist in periodic cycle counts to include year-end fiscal inventory count, and pick up, sort and process daily mail (La Concha location only).

  • Maintain all assigned vehicles and equipment in a clean and safe operating manner, reporting difficulties to supervision. Maintain cleanliness of warehouse and/or working area.

  • Assist Materials Technical Coordinator in the daily entry of inventory transactions, purchase order receipts and review/release of critical supplies.

  • Issue/distribute Critical Labels in compliance with label control program (MOC location only).

  • Review, troubleshoot and organize assigned schedule for practicality, safety and efficiency.

Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others. Must comply with all applicable safety rules and policies and be willing to report actual and potential safety violations to the appropriate supervisor or manager.

Attendance

Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in The Blood Centers sole discretion.

Regular Hours

Full time: must be regularly available to work at least 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, or such other days or hours per week as The Blood Center determines are necessary to meet business needs.

Overtime (applicable only to non-exempt positions)

Must be available and willing to work such overtime per day or per week as The Blood Center determines is necessary or desirable to meet business needs.

Weekend and Holidays

Must be available and willing to work such weekends and holidays as The Blood Center determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school Diploma or GED; and one year of previous job related experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic Data Processing experiences required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Texas Drivers License and acceptable driving record.

Must meet standards of The Blood Centers Vehicle Safety Program.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, independently. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Computer literate; Must have familiarity with using computers.
