Position Summary

UNMTemps, the University of New Mexico's internal temporary staffing department, seeks a temporary Inventory Control Clerk to join the Early Childhood Services Center.

Duties of the Inventory Control Clerk include, but are not limited to, the following:

Maintains records of materials in inventory and on order.

Prepares and ships items to clients statewide.

Monitors reorder points and initiates action to replenish stock.

Reconciles discrepancies in inventories and notifies supervisor of irregularities.

This position requires: a) Monitoring and maintaining current inventory levels, including reconciling stock counts to computer reports; b) Initiates action to replenish stock by processing purchase orders and other related paperwork; c) Receiving, unpacking, and delivering items to shelves; d) Inspects shipments for accuracy and completeness, and resolves inconsistencies; e) generates packets and goods for shipment and f) performs routine clerical duties in support of unit.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort - Considerable physical activity. May require handling of objects that can weigh up to 50 lbs.

Assignment Details:

Days & Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00a.m. - 5:00p.m.

Anticipated Start Date: 3/1/2021

Projected End Date: 6/30/2021

Parking Arrangements: Responsibility of the selected employee

UNMTemps provides staffing solutions to UNM departments requesting temporary employees as positions become available due to a vacancy, when regular employees are absent, for peak work periods, and for special events. As such, UNMTemps assignments/positions may end with little or no advance notice.

Conditions of Employment
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
* Detailed oriented
* Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
* Ability to reconcile stock counts to report data.
* Microsoft 365 and database skills.
* Ability to receive,stock, and/or deliver and ship goods.
