DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The Irrigation Delivery Specialist is responsible for the regulation and distribution of irrigation water from and
between storage reservoirs, canals, structures, buildings, and other facilities. This position is responsible for
assisting in the collection and efficient delivery of available water supply to water users for agriculture production
on Community lands.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for regulating and distributing irrigation water from and between storage reservoirs, at diversions
and in canals and at all delivery points within specified work territory.Receive water orders; takes daily measurements; maintains records of water delivery, and arranges quantity,
time and duration of deliveries.Operates Program distribution facilities (check structures, screens, turnouts and valve vaults) to regulate and
deliver water in accordance with Program policies.Reports conditions of facilities; detects if conditions meet standards set for the safe and efficient operation of
the water delivery system and recommends needed maintenance.Perform minor repairs and maintenance service requirements.Explains operating procedures, conditions, and problems relating to delivery schedules to water users.
Incumbent is responsible for performing duties consistence with standards of health and safety; and carries
out work in a manner not endangering others.Perform other duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE. SKILL AND ABILITY:Knowledge of basic background of the methods used to regulate and deliver water.Knowledge of concepts and principles of water measurement.Knowledge of how to use irrigation structures and other devices to measure, regulate and control water, to
determine accurate and proper settings. Knowledge and understanding of local farm and industrial problems
required to deal with the people served by the irrigation system.
0 Knowledge of proper safety and health standards for public, Program facilities and personnel; ability to ensure
compliance by water user, public and Program personnel.
0 Knowledge of large canals, reservoir outlets, siphons, tunnels, basic hydraulics such as head differential and
canal flow characteristics and resulting consequences.
0 Ability to keep accurate records of water deliveries including time, date, and quantity, by field and water user;
must be able to read, write, add, subtract, multiply and divide proficiently.

- Ability to communicate with tribal and federal agencies affiliated with the water delivery; contractors
performing maintenance and repair of facilities.
0 Ability to interact with water users, field personnel, and the general public.
0 Ability to work safely with recording instrumentation and associated equipment; operate hand or power tools.
0 Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: High School diploma or GED and one (1) year experience in the maintenance of irrigation systems, methods of
water distribution or irrigation water deliveryADDITIONAL REg )UIREMENT:

- Required to obtain a Tribal Operators permit. Valid state drivers license with a current proof of driving
record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record
must be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission
of the application.Non-Supervisory, Hourly Position
