Position Description
The IT Support Senior Technician has an expert level of technical knowledge and experience in one or more IT-related areas. This positions scope of responsibility includes providing technical support and assistance to departments, faculty, staff, and students with the use of hardware and some software support and maintenance. The IT Support Senior Technician will also specialize in hardware and software that support institutional strategic initiatives, and manage area or unit IT projects that impact multiple departments or units.

Major Essential Functions
The Senior IT Support Technician has an expert level of technical knowledge and experience in one or more IT-related areas. This position is the primary IT supports for the TTUHSC Combest clinics and programs in Lubbock, Texas.
This positions scope of responsibility includes:
  • Provide technical support and assistance to clinics, programs, and employees with the use of hardware and some software support and maintenance.
  • Specializes in hardware and software that support institutional strategic initiatives, and manage area or unit IT projects that impact multiple clinics or programs.
  • Responsible for ordering of equipment and supplies for the division and maintains an accurate inventory of controlled assets and other SON / Combest equipment. Keeps spare equipment in working order to be used as a backup if needed.
  • Assists with set up for training sessions and meetings as needed at Combest Center to ensure technology is functional.
  • Provide an IT overview for new Combest employees including activating eRaider accounts.
  • Maintain appropriate Dell certifications necessary to perform warranty repairs of Dell desktops and laptops.
  • Collaborates and acts as liaison with SON and TTUHSC IT regarding IT Projects related to SON growth, such as office expansion, building construction, infrastructure upgrades, and network topology.
  • Assists in solving network associated access problems encountered by Combest personnel.
  • Diligently attends to details and pursues quality in accomplishing assigned technical tasks.
  • Provides planning for Combest IT enhancements, upgrades, and maintenance of desktop computers and other equipment as identified.
  • Align with the Value Based Culture, Vision, & Mission of the TTUHSC, SON, & Combest.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Have the ability to provide help-desk and peer-to-peer technology support for online, walk-in, and employees (i.e. staff, students, and faculty) and in a clinic environment and employees who work remotely.
  • Ensures IT issues are addressed, resolved, escalated, communicated, and tracked while focusing on customer service and end user satisfaction.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills and strong service orientation and time management skills.
  • Have the ability to work autonomously and effectively under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work well with people of different areas, such as clinical, non-clinical, administrative; including those with varying degrees of technical experience and knowledge.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team, or on your own as the situation dictates.
  • Have a thorough understanding of PC and Apple hardware systems as well as operating systems and common software packages in order to diagnose and troubleshoot problems.
  • Able to quickly identify problems and use independent judgment to identify solutions/action plans.
  • Have the ability to handle difficult situations while maintaining poise and professionalism.
  • Ability and willingness to aggregate, analyze, and synthesize input from technical and business resources to draw clear conclusions.
  • Be a proactive, self-starter with a superior work ethic and a high level of initiative, self-motivation, and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Required to manage and inventory equipment.
  • Ability to generate reports as identified by supervisor or administration related to IT, such as inventory management.
  • Have a working knowledge and experience in IT clinical applications and support.
