BASIC FUNCTIONS

The primary responsibility of the Systems Administrator is to oversee VIVAGEs electronic information and communication infrastructure and internal and external computer system security. In this role you will propose and guide projects to enhance the companys infrastructure. The Systems Administrator will provide all levels of technical support to organization end-users following current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern long term care and assisted living facilities.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Researches, identifies, and recommends technologies and tools for hardware, operating systems, applications, security, and infrastructure tools for systems improvements, cost-savings, and risk reduction.

  • Installs, upgrades, and maintains servers, network hardware and software, desktop and laptop workstations, and other infrastructure components to ensure optimal functionality of corporate network.

  • Organizes and maintains contingency plans for information systems and communication systems to ensure solid copy of data.

  • Verifies reliability of backup systems to ensure integrity and improves backup procedures for efficient operations.

  • Installs, updates, and monitors computer security equipment to identify potential threats to protect company information systems.

  • Creates and updates procedures for all software components to ensure proper documentation.

  • Troubleshoots Internet, WAN, and LAN interruptions and monitors network traffic and system performance to ensure stability and connectivity.

  • Organizes sufficient testing to minimize disruptions to production systems.

  • Evaluates upgrades in new application, technology, and user accounts in lab environment to ensure proper functionality.

  • Upgrades application software for Windows, security, backup, and other infrastructure components.

  • Assigns, modifies, and revokes user accounts and permissions for proper security accessibility in Active Directory.

  • Improves and maintains company Wide Area Network/Local Area Network to ensure secure connectivity to all users.

  • Assigns user security on network level and allocates resources to ensure integrity of shared network space.

  • Creates and modifies rules to group actions of users and hosts via Group policy.

  • Maintains and enhances Google Apps email system to ensure optimal functionality.

  • Supports and troubleshoots remote access systems.

  • Provides hardware and software technical support for end user workstations.

  • Complies with company policies and handbooks.

  • Occasional long or late hours.

  • May be required to travel.

  • Maintains and supports a culture of compliance, ethics and integrity.

  • Maintains confidentiality and rights of resident, family, employee, and facility information in compliance with PHI HIPAA policies and applicable regulations.

  • Maintains safe work environment and exhibits safe work practices.

  • Completes special projects as assigned and other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/JOB TRAINING

Education:

  • Must possess one of the following: (1) Bachelors Degree in computer science or related field, (2) a technical or associates degree with 1-2 years of experience, or (3) 4 years directly related experience.


Experience

  • Minimum two (2) years technical support, systems administration, networking, and computer security systems experience.

  • SQL/DevOps, Google Apps for Business, Nimble Storage, and MPLS management experience preferred.


Specific Requirements:

  • High level knowledge of Microsoft and Windows Products, HP server hardware, Cisco networking equipment and management, backup systems, workstation and end user support, Endpoint Protection systems, Point Click Care, EHR, Nimble Storage, VMware, Google Apps for Business, high level troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.

  • Moderate to high levels of English reading comprehension, active listening, monitoring, coordination, instructing, service orientation, complex problem solving, operations analysis, equipment selection, installation, quality control analysis, operating control, equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, systems analysis and evaluations, time management, reasoning, attention to detail, and documentation.

  • Moderate levels of English writing and speaking, learning strategies, negotiation, judgment and decision-making, organization, and originality.

  • Low to moderate levels of programming, persuasion, and mathematics.

  • Must possess a valid and unrestricted Drivers License.

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.

  • Must possess the ability to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.

  • Must be knowledgeable of laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to hospital and nursing facility administrative procedures.

  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., necessary for providing quality services and maintaining a sound operation.

  • Must be able to communicate policies, procedures, regulations, reports, etc., to personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies/personnel.

  • Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into exiting practices.

  • Must be knowledgeable of computer systems, system applications, and other office equipment.

  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Drives periodically to facility sites throughout Colorado.

  • Majority of time spent in an office environment that is heated and/or air-conditioned, and may be subject to various temperatures throughout the building.

  • Position requires some exposure to facilities, which involves exposure to healthcare environment.

  • Works in all areas of the building.

  • Moves intermittently during working hours.

  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.

  • Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.

  • Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset personnel, visitors, etc.

  • Communicates with personnel, facility staff, and other department supervisors.

  • Works beyond normal duty hours, on weekends and holidays as necessary.

  • May be subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).

  • May be subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.

  • May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS (with or without aide of medical devices)

  • May require frequent exposure to facilities, which involves exposure to healthcare work environment.

  • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.

  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and /or lift a minimum of 40 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.

  • May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of personnel during emergency situation.
