The Salvation Army is looking to fill a Janitor Position. The successful candidate for this position is someone who can carry out duties with minimal supervision and is highly adaptable and excels in new environments. This position is benefit eligible and comes with vacation, sick, health, vision, life insurance and more.

The Janitor will perform routine and detailed cleaning duties for the facility that are scheduled on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. These duties include sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, sanitizing and dusting all hard surface areas and bathrooms. The Janitor will assist with setting up and clean-up of classrooms and meeting rooms. This position will also do preventative maintenance to include changing air filters, light fixtures, and switch plate covers.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Nevada State Driver’s License and clean driving record
  • Must be able to carry out duties without close supervision
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds as well as with a wide-range of other organizational personnel in a courteous and professional manner
  • Highly adaptable; thrives on challenges and excels in new environments
  • Should possess time management skills and be able to complete assigned tasks
  • Should be physically fit and be able to complete all assigned work efficiently
  • An understanding and acceptance of the Salvation Army’s mission, philosophy, and practices
  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms on a continuous basis. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to focus. The employee must have the ability to operate a telephone, desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
