Our Client is seeking a motivated professional to work as a Juvenile Detention Specialist in the Alexandria area.
SUMMARY OF CLIENT'S DESCRIPTION OF THIS OPPPORTUNITY
* The primary responsibilities are to provide security, safety and care for juveniles detainees in custody
* Supervise detainees in the classrooms, during clean up, recreation, and meal time
* Assist in maintaining a daily log of intakes and releases, administering of medication, and logging of unusual behavior,
* Maintain discipline and control of the detainees. Intervene with detainee when situation dictates, utilizing appropriate interventions
* Employ basic counseling skills to help relieve detainees anxieties and tensions,
REQUIRED AND EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
* Must be at least 21 years of age
* Possess any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelors degree and one year of work experience which may include: two years of college credit in a related field and two years of work experience with juveniles or three or more years of direct work experience with at-risk juveniles.
* Must be able to pass a physical exam, and successfully complete Handle With Care (physical restraint training)
* Possess valid CPR, First Aid and AED.
* Must be aware of and show proficiency in planning, resourcing, and implementing child friendly recreational, healthcare, education and social activities.
* Able to pass a drug test and criminal background checks with the following: Virginia State Police, Child Protective Services and Federal Bureau of Investigations.
* Possess a valid vehicle operator license and be able to pass a Department of Motor Vehicle check for insurability.
