Additional Information:
DEFINITION:
The Teacher Coaches, having both content and instructional expertise, will work as a colleague with classroom teachers to support student learning and improving teacher practice. The Teacher Coaches provide leadership by planning and collaborating with teachers, mentoring and helping facilitate change to improve instruction, in addition to being hands on in supporting the work of the site leadership team. The Teacher Coaches model the role of Lead Learner and helps provide continuity with District curricula and expectations with site and teacher goals.
REPORTS TO: Site Principal with District C&I input
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. TASKS:
Model effective differentiated instruction, support teachers with classroom coaching/feedback and the integration of technology in classroom instruction and supplemental learning opportunities.
Assist with the facilitation of professional learning communities using noticing and sense making, classroom walkthroughs, peer observation, and action research.
Assist teachers in aligning their planning, resources, and teaching with appropriate standards, curriculum, and the formative assessment process.
Facilitate professional development of teachers with a focus on learning rather than teaching
Provide support in analyzing student data and assist site staff with instructional decisions based upon multiple data sources.
Work collaboratively and collegially with site leadership team, other instructional coaches and district curriculum team.
Serve as an active member of the school and district leadership teams.
Work flexible and/or additional hours or days that could include pre and post service, facilitation of staff training and other duties as assigned from the school and/or district level that are aligned to the integrity of the coaching position.
Participate in required district trainings/meetings and provide appropriate follow-up.
Teach students on a daily basis in a predetermined capacity that could include full class, co-teaching, small group, etc.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
Knowledge of technology integration
Knowledge of Arizona State Standards
Knowledge of coaching methodology
Skill in oral and written communications
Experience with data collection and analysis
Experience working with diverse populations
Possess the knowledge, skills, and instructional strategies necessary to effectively impact the instructional practices of teachers.
Knowledgeable about current and past research within content areas, pedagogies, and resources relevant to the coaching role.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in an indoor environment. Work requires frequent sitting, standing, bending, repetitive motion, vision to monitor and lifting up to 15 pounds.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors Degree
Minimum 5 years teaching/educational experience.
Current Arizona Elementary or Secondary Certification
Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction or closely related field
Endorsement (Early Childhood; Reading; Middle Level or Secondary Content Areas of English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science or Social Studies)
Understanding and implementation of formative assessment processes
