Job Description

The Labourer is required to operate a variety of hand and power tools. Responsibilities will include the assembly of products using bolts, screws, clips, soldering tools, and assorted fasteners. The Laborer will be responsible for the efficient production of products according to established procedures, following all safety protocols and workplace policies.

As a Labourer, you will work 4 days per week, at 10 hours per day.

What youll do

  • Bolt, screw, clip, or otherwise fasten parts and components together using hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Assemble products using bolts, screws, clips, soldering tools, and assorted fasteners.
  • Mark, record and report defects.
  • Lubricate, clean, maintain and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.
  • Assist shipper and receiver with loading and unloading materials.
  • Identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications.
  • Clean and perform preparation of yard, shop, and work-site.
  • Provide general help to all trades.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

Who you are

  • Education background normally equivalent to high school is required.
  • Knowledge of the construction/manufacturing industry is considered an asset.
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
  • Knowledge of First Aid and CPR preferred.
  • Effective verbal and listening communications skills.
  • Able to work in a fast paced, deadline driven setting.
  • Ability to have a critical eye for identifying defects.
  • Commitment to quality and safety.
  • Ability to respect diversity and treat others with respect.
  • Ability to avoid unnecessary conflict.
  • Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods, and the tools required in various assembly processes.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labour.
  • Perform heavy manual labor, including bending, stooping, reaching, carrying and lifting heavy objects weighing up to 45 lbs.
  • Requires manual dexterity of both hands and feet to perform activities such as lifting overhead, twisting and bending while lifting, climbing ladders and stairs while wearing protective equipment, and working in confined spaces, including repetitive arm motion below, at, and above shoulder level.
  • Walks approximately 2-4 kilometers per day on a variety of surfaces including, concrete and gravel.
