Job Description

LOCATION: Phoenix, AZ SUPERVISOR: Facilities Manager STATUS: PT MISSION STATEMENT The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. QUALIFICATIONS HS Diploma or GED required Must be at least 18 years old Minimum of 3-years’ experience in landscaping including turf and sprinkler control systems Minimum of 1-year building cleaning and basic maintenance and repair experience Must possess a basic knowledge of turf management, replacement, watering levels, sprinkler and valve replacement, seeding, scalping, over seeding, and field painting Have knowledge of core competencies in facility maintenance and upkeep Service-oriented team player with the ability to maintain a positive attitude while interacting with Kroc employees, guests, and the general public Posses working knowledge of gas trimmers, mowers, chainsaws, and hand tools Excellent organizational skills with the ability to carry out multiple tasks efficiently Possess strong verbal and written communication skills Bilingual English/Spanish preferred Maintain a non-judgmental attitude while working with customers, members, & staff. Must possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License with a clean driving record & provide proof of insurance. Required to pass The Salvation Army’s fleet safety training Employment is dependent upon passing a criminal background check RESPONSIBILITIES Maintains sports field areas Perform landscape maintenance including trimming, drip system replacement, water schedules and plant replacement Responsible for seasonal seeding on turf Paint fields for sports activities as directed by Facilities Manager Cut grass on all fields to maintain organizational standards Work with Rental and Events Team as directed to ensure weekend maintenance requirements are met Ensure proper removal of all waste from trimming and mowing Inventory tools, equipment, and/or materials to ensure that there Is a sufficient supply and that inventory is well maintained and in usable condition. Transplant or prune trees or shrubs Landscape, cultivate lawns, and prune trees and shrubs as directed to maintain Kroc Center standards Manage assigned projects to ensure that instructions are followed, deadlines are met, and schedules are maintained. Assist in planting or maintaining vegetation through activities such as mulching, fertilizing, watering, mowing, or pruning. Assist in mixing or applying fertilizers, insecticides, herbicides, or fungicides and be familiar with precautions as listed on the MSDS sheet. Identify diseases or pests affecting landscaping and order appropriate treatments Maintain a safe working environment for all employees, guests, members and staff Installation of sprinkler systems, calculating water pressure, or valve and pipe coverage needs Assist in custodial services as needed and directed Assist with repairs and general maintenance as assigned Perform other duties as assigned as they relate to the position of Landscape & Facilities Tech.
