Description

The Internship program is designed to give interns exposure to the work environment at the County Attorney's including opportunities to observe and assist in legal proceedings and contribute to the work of prosecution teams. The program integrates interns into the office and allows them to assume some of the same responsibilities as our full-time personnel. This is a paid part time position for twenty hours a week. Pinal County dockets range across the legal landscape from civil to criminal cases.
JOB SUMMARY
Perform a variety of tasks at the discretion of the department. This is an entry/trainee position that works under close supervision. Positions at this level are assigned routine/standardized or recurring duties.
This position is an exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not a covered position under the Pinal County Merit System Rules. Incumbents in this position serve at the pleasure of their respective Appointing Authority. The employment relationship is "at-will" and employment may be terminated at any time, for any reason, with or without cause.

TYPICAL CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Assist Departmental staff in a variety of tasks.
  • To promote and adhere to the workplace values of accountability, commitment, and teamwork to help enrich lives beyond expectation.
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES:
  • Assist with litigation including research, factual investigation and drafting memorandums and briefs.
  • Help with policy research, client counseling and development of public education materials.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled as a law student with preference given to 2nd and 3rd year law students.
  • Experience performing research and composing well-articulated findings in a fast paced environment.
  • Valid Drivers License with an Arizona Drivers License required within 30 days of hire.

  • Skilled in following verbal and written instructions and procedures.
  • Skilled in communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Independent body mobility to stand, walk, bend, and sit for prolonged periods of time and/or drive a vehicle. Manual dexterity to reach, and grasp; manual dexterity to hand write or use computer keyboard; vision sufficient to see/read; hear and speak to communicate with customers in person and over the phone.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Position is located in an indoor office environment.
