LENA Teacher Mentor (Albuquerque - HYBRID)

  3. Availability to work center-based hours.
  4. Availability to work year-round.
  5. Ability to travel independently with some overnights to Taos, Rio Arriba, and throughout Bernalillo Counties.
  6. Must complete CCDF Health and Safety Topic Trainings within three months of hire date.
  7. 30 Hour Work Week.

Job Description:

LENA MENTOR TEACHER - Serves as a Mentor Teacher for Early Head Start and Head Start teachers participating in the LENA Grow intervention. The Mentor Teacher will be responsible to train and debrief with infant, toddler, and preschool classroom teachers on best practices to enhance childrens language skills, help recruit children for the project, secure parent consent forms to participate in the project, organize electronic data collection to be used to evaluate the efficacy of the LENA Grow intervention, and implement the LENA Grow curriculum with fidelity.

  1. MA in Early Childhood Education and 5 years of experience teaching or training early childhood staff OR BA in Early Childhood Education and 8 years related work experience.

JOB CHARACTERISTICS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  1. This position is exempt from overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
  2. This is a professional position which requires strong organizational and communication skills, good judgment, tact, and diplomacy when interacting with all YDI employees, community members, parents/caregivers, and representatives from other entities.
  3. Strict adherence is required to all local, state, federal and YDI regulations concerning confidentiality.
  4. Must successfully complete the online CCDF Quorum Health and Safety training within three months of date of hire.
  5. Good general health and the ability to lift and carry 55 lbs. are essential.
  6. Approved background investigation to include fingerprint process is required.
  7. TB Skin Test and physical examination is required upon hire and may be required intermittently.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete the virtual LENA Grow training offered by LENA Grow within 2 months of hire date.
  • Develop and follow a schedule that ensures all EHS and HS teachers complete the LENA Grow intervention before the end of the 24-month project.
  • Implement the LENA Grow intervention with fidelity to all Early Head Start and Head Start teachers.
  • Facilitate the weekly required debrief session with each classroom teaching team completing the LENA Grow sequence.
  • Input child and teacher demographic information to the LENA Grow platform within one week of data collection.
  • Electronically submit child and teacher demographic information quarterly to outside evaluator.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all project data.
  • Assist Project Assistant with recorder and vest collection/dissemination as needed to ensure LENA Grow data collection is carried out on the same day each week.
  • Participate in meetings with the project evaluator as needed.
  • Participate in quarterly meetings with the funder Project Officer.
  • Submit weekly updates (e.g., number of teachers and children currently completing the LENA Grow sequence, number of teachers and children who completed the LENA Grow sequence, status of completed CLASS observations conducted in LENA Grow classrooms) to division Senior Associates and division Vice President.
  • Participate in project meetings as requested by Senior Associate overseeing LENA Grow.
  • Other duties assigned by supervisor.
