Position Summary |
The UNM Law Library seeks a Library Information Specialist 1. This position reports to the Circulation and Facilities
Coordinator and is assigned to work full-time at the Law Library.
Main duties include: 1. Staff the Law Library Circulation Desk, providing service, guidance, and assistance to library patrons regarding
general and specific information about the library and its resources; including collection circulation, room
reservations, printer and scanner use, study carrel assignments, lost and found, and parking permits.
2. Utilize databases and the integrated library system to perform and/or oversee routine tasks such as interlibrary loan,
after-hours access, facility and collection maintenance, checkout and renewal, course reserves, and receiving and
processing library material.
3. Resolve routine operational problems and provide first-level troubleshooting for relevant library systems and
technology.
4. Perform and/or oversee collection maintenance activities and projects.
5. Perform and/or oversee the librarys trash, recycling, shredding, surplus, pest control, and daily maintenance and
upkeep.
6. Lead, guide, and train student employees, set work schedules, and ensure compliance with established circulation,
collection maintenance, and facilities procedures.
7. Carry out and communicate policies pertaining to unit services, operations, and activities.
8. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. |
Preferred Qualifications |
? Skill in the use of Windows-based operating environments.
? Skill in the use of the WMS integrated library systems circulation and course reserve modules.
? Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
? Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
? Ability to analyze and solve problems.
? Ability to provide training to student employees.
? Knowledge of library principles, practices, and terminology.
? Ability to develop professional knowledge and skills through appropriate training.
