JOB SUMMARY:
Perform administrative and library clerical duties that support a wide range of traditional and online library services for Pinal County including copy and original cataloging, collection development and interlibrary loan processing, materials processing, technical support, general office clerical support, and assisting library users with reference and other library requests under general supervision. Positions may also assist in training of library volunteers and other staff.

TYPICAL CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Lead, coordinate, schedule, assign, and inspect the daily work activities of assigned staff.
  • Perform and coordinate all public service functions, assist patrons in-person or over the phone, handle complaints, and explain policies and procedures.
  • Issue library cards, checkout and renew materials, collect fines and fees, process interlibrary loans, prepare items for courier, and arrange material alphabetically and numerically in prescribed manner.
  • Conduct reference interviews, provide answers for library users' reference questions using both electronic and traditional sources, use readers' advisory skills to help patrons select materials, compile printed or electronic bibliographies, and assist library users in the use of the on-line catalog system, electronic resources, Internet searches, and computer programs.
  • Assist with collection development, acquire library materials, order, receive and process library materials, track orders and invoices, evaluate statistics within the catalog to determine the most popular materials, respond to citizens' requests for addition or removal of library materials.
  • Establish good communications with affiliate libraries.
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service. Coordinate the development and revision of the library policies and procedures manual.
  • Plan and implement programs such as children's story times, computer classes, book discussion groups, and other library programs that promote literacy, assist with program planning that includes generating publicity, writing newspaper articles, budgeting, purchasing needed supplies, and preparing exhibits and displays. Gather statistics and evaluate outcomes, and communicate in front of groups of children or adults.
  • Analyze plans, assist in planning future growth and service enhancement in conjunction with the Library District and the Library Board, and keep up-to-date with current professional issues and developments to improve services.
  • Search, edit, and create bibliographic records for library materials according to current cataloging standards, create and edit item records, add authority records, match subject headings in the database to Library of Congress authority records, resolve duplicate records, and respond to cataloging questions by phone or email from affiliate libraries.
  • Troubleshoot printers, copiers, computers, and other peripheral equipment, work with IT to resolve issues.
  • To promote and adhere to the workplace values of accountability, commitment, and teamwork to help enrich lives beyond expectation.
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • Associate's degree in any field.
  • One (1) year of library experience.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Valid Arizona State Driver's License.
