Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Machine Operator on 1st shift [6:30 am to 3:00 pm] at our Albert Lea, MN manufacturing plant. The starting pay rate for this position is $20.14 per hour. The base pay will increase to $21.07 after 3 months of service. There is also an additional seniority premium.

This position is responsible for the efficient operation of state-of-the-art equipment. You will communicate with lead person for direction of materials needed and produce components to specifications on a schedule. Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations of excellence. The successful candidate will be expected to be efficient in the operation of equipment within the department to determine the best material utilization.

Additional responsibilities of the Machine Operator will include:

  • Good Attendance, while demonstrating safe working habits and attitude.
  • Learns the different materials and cutting requirements of all parts and their quality standards.
  • Uses order listing to determine sizes and amounts to cut and learn how to utilize material efficiently.
  • Must be able to stand all day, handle large slabs of foam, lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50lbs.
  • Will keep equipment and work area clean and perform basic preventive maintenance as needed.
  • Verifies proper machine operations, checks output accuracy and must be able to make machine adjustments when necessary.


  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree Preferred.
  • Be able to read specification drawings that assist in learning how to properly assemble finished parts.
  • Must have basic math skills and the ability to read and interpret a tape measure.
  • Organizational skills to allow for continuous running of the machine.
  • Basic Computer knowledge and ability to use computerized equipment in daily operations preferred.
