Maintenance Worker I- Swing Shift
Job Description
Under direct supervision, the Maintenance Worker I will be responsible for performing architectural renovations, modifications, repairs and preventive maintenance to building structures and performing all other related duties and tasks as required or assigned.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 0-3 years of directly-related maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.
Must have demonstrated skills in general maintenance and be able to troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of maintenance problems. This position requires the ability to complete associated paperwork and work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Individual must be highly motivated with good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Requires computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.
The schedule for this position is 2:30pm - 11:00pm Tuesday - Saturday.
A Post-offer background check and the ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB) is required.
Work is performed in a variety of settings including office and laboratory environments, as well as in outdoor areas. Will frequently stand, walk, sit, kneel, crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, etc.), reach/work overhead, frequently lift/carry/push/pull heavy objects that weigh up to 50 pounds and perform desk-based computer tasks. Will wear personal protective equipment which may include a respirator. Will work in close proximity to an environment containing research animals and may be required to work in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious agents are present which may require vaccinations.
