Overview

Under general supervision, the Maintenance Worker II will perform routine and emergency maintenance, repair, modification and install a wide variety of plumbing systems. Inspects, repairs, installs, modifies and maintains plumbing fixtures in heating; water and drainage systems. This will also include identifying electrical, plumbing, and safety problems applicable to the installation and take necessary corrective action. The individual will perform necessary clerical duties associated with job and should able to read blue prints. Must be available for weekend on-call duties occasionally. Will perform all other related duties and tasks as required or assigned.

Qualifications

Requires a GED or high school diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of directly-related maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from with comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained. Journeymans plumber license is required.

Must have demonstrated skills in plumbing installation, maintenance and repair. Must have knowledge of steam, water and natural gas distribution, system maintenance and repair. Must be able to troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of plumbing problems. This position requires the ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures. Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to the plumbing trade.

Must be able to complete associated paperwork and work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Must be highly motivated with good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Requires computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.

Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing and pulling heavy equipment, bending, stooping, climbing, carrying, outdoor work and working alone for long periods of time with or without accommodation. Must be able to wear a respirator and any other required personal protective equipment.

A Post-offer background check and the ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB) is required.

Relocation may be offered for this position.

Salary

Salary is commensurate with experience.
