Summary:
The Epic Training Manager is responsible for overseeing the training programs related to the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system within a healthcare organization. This role involves managing a team of trainers, developing training materials, ensuring the effective delivery of training, and ensuring that staff are equipped to use the Epic system efficiently. The Epic Training Manager works closely with leadership, subject matter experts, and end users to ensure that training is comprehensive, up-to-date, and aligned with the organization's goals.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Management: Lead, manage, and mentor a team of Epic trainers, ensuring that they are properly trained and equipped to deliver high-quality training sessions. Conduct performance evaluations for trainers and provide ongoing professional development opportunities. Oversee the scheduling and coordination of training programs to ensure they are delivered on time.
Training Development: Develop and customize Epic training programs and materials for various roles within the organization, such as clinical staff, administrative personnel, and IT support. Ensure that all training programs align with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and Epic best practices. Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and the Epic implementation team to ensure accurate and up-to-date content is delivered.
Training Delivery & Support: Facilitate and oversee both in-person and virtual Epic training sessions for new and existing users. Ensure that training methods are engaging, effective, and adaptable to different learning styles. Provide ongoing support to users during and after the training period, addressing any questions or issues related to Epic software usage.
Epic System Optimization: Work with the IT and clinical teams to understand the functionality of Epic modules and identify areas where additional training may be needed. Support the rollout of new Epic functionality, upgrades, and changes by ensuring that relevant staff receive proper training. Act as a liaison between end users and the Epic implementation or support teams to provide feedback for system improvements.
Monitoring & Reporting: Track and analyze the success of training initiatives through evaluations, feedback, and user performance metrics. Report on the effectiveness of training programs and make recommendations for continuous improvement. Ensure compliance with accreditation or regulatory training standards, where applicable.
Collaboration: Collaborate with leadership and department heads to identify training needs across the organization. Work with the Epic system administrators and project managers to align training schedules with system updates or new implementations.

Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor's degree in healthcare, business, information technology, or a related field (required).
Epic certification in relevant modules (required).
Additional certifications in training, instructional design, or project management are a plus.
Minimum Experience Required:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Epic training, implementation, or support.
At least 2-3 years of experience managing or leading training teams.
Experience with Epic modules such as EpicCare, Willow, and Resolute is highly preferred.
Strong understanding of healthcare workflows and how Epic systems support clinical and operational functions.
Skills & Abilities:
Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Epic EHR systems and an understanding of its various modules.
Ability to design and develop training programs for diverse audiences.
Experience with learning management systems (LMS) is a plus.
Analytical skills to assess training needs and evaluate program effectiveness.
