Position Summary: SPMO is deployed when a line of business needs to supplement its capabilities and resources to plan and execute key initiatives, and also when the enterprise seeks to establish an appropriate level of transparency and governance around specific initiatives.

This role will seek productive relationships withinternal customers and partners across the business. The person in this role will understand and effectively navigate a matrixed operating environment.

As the leader of the SPMO, the SVP is responsible for driving adoption within SPMO of best practices for assessing, advising and executing significant corporate initiatives. The SVP will establish key practices regarding program design, execution and governance for the entire program life cycle (intake to completion), and will achieve consistency of approach by SPMO personnel, while maintaining appropriate flexibility to respond to differing client needs from one initiative to the other. While appropriate levels of planning and process focus are crucial for executing large-scale initiatives, SPMO practices should focus most heavily on client needs and achieving intended client outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Customer Outcome Focus: drive a customer-centric culture focused on placing outcomes and strong value propositions at the forefront of all SPMO activities
  • Technical Capability: a "subject matter ninja" in one of the key SPMO disciplines, with good business judgment
  • Team Leadership: attract, engage and empower truly great people; set clear priorities and responsibilities to achieve them
  • Superior Change Management: communicate clearly, work practically and do hard things well with speed and urgency
  • Organizational Influence: be a practical, collaborative and influential figure within the firm, working across businesses and functions. Invest time and resources to establish strong relationships. Operate comfortably in a complex "matrix" environment.
  • Ethics: drive an ethical culture, earning the confidence of the SPMOs key stakeholders

Experience and Education

The successful candidate will possess business operations experience and skills, analytical and critical thinking skills, and attention to detail. Additionally, the ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or comparable post-graduate academic training preferred
  • Bachelor degree or comparable academic training in general business, M&A, program/change management, organizational optimization, or closely related discipline desired
  • 3-5 years experience and progressive leadership owning program management of significant initiatives and transformation engagements
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to details and technicalities.
  • Excellent organizational and technical skills.
  • Good interpersonal and multi-tasking skills.
  • Must possess a combination of company/industry knowledge and core consulting skills
  • Must have additional expertise in one or more key practice areas such as strategic/business planning and performance measurement, process management (including quality management or Six Sigma) or organizational effectiveness/development
  • Facilitation skills, overcoming conflict, team development, and effective interpersonal skills are also highly valuable
