POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager of SMG Practice & Systems Optimization reports to the Associate Director of SMG Practice & Systems Optimization and has the responsibility for helping to drive initiatives to improve patient care delivery while maximizing product functionality and supporting regulatory/quality programs. This position requires an understanding of practice workflows and translating these in to the electronic medical records to ensure efficiency and optimal workflow within the ambulatory care setting. The Manager of SMG Practice & Systems Optimization will work in conjunction with stakeholders to ensure optimization of the electronic systems for optimal practice workflows.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Possesses direct oversight of the following:

  • Improve Patient Care Delivery (PCD) by:
    • Identifying opportunities to maximize patient care delivery across Steward Medical Group (SMG) and assist in development of strategies for meeting these needs in conjunction with the Associate Director, SMG Practice & Systems Optimization.
    • Working in conjunction with the SMG Optimization Team to ensure optimal workflow for practices within the practice systems
    • Providing support for the overall planning, development and implementation of projects that improve the delivery of patient care within SMG.
    • Working in conjunction with operational leaders and the SMG Optimization Team to define performance metrics that align with SMG initiatives.
    • Ensure highly productive relationships and partnerships for the benefit of the organization.
    • Stay current with changes in the overall Healthcare landscape and trends.
    • Establish and maintain a high level of client trust and confidence in the teams knowledge of, and concern for its Physicians.
    • Partner with SMGs Optimization team to ensure that clinical training content is appropriate and updated based upon current practice workflow.
  • In order to carry out these responsibilities, will direct these EHR related Responsibilities:
    • In conjunction with the Associate Director of SMG Practice & Systems Optimization, ownership of the design of content/pathways for athena/eCW (approve and sign off on content and decide direction)
      • SMG liaison to SHCN for eCW/athena content changes
      • Liaison between SMG practice/operations and Information Systems (IT) team
    • Working with EHR vendors to ensure product functionality is fully utilized.
    • In conjunction with the AIS team, provide guidance on SMG practice eCW/athena optimization and assessment.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Understanding of Healthcare EHRs, preferably athena, Cerner and eClinicalWorks
  • Vendor management and negotiations experience in development of effective partnership with vendors.
  • Ability to effectively adapt to a rapidly changing industry and apply it to business needs, developing and delivering projects.
  • Dynamic leadership that can develop and energize multidiscipline, high-performance work teams to learn and apply new skills/techniques to business needs.
  • Strong knowledge of the Physician practice workflow.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; an ability to present and discuss technical and business information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding.
  • Project management skills, effectively arranging resources and managing multiple small to large projects in a cross-functional environment.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Travel is required


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE/TECHNICAL/OTHER:

  • Education: Bachelors degree preferred
  • Experience (Type & Length): 6+ years of related experience in healthcare organization(s) understanding the clinical, technical and workflow dynamics of healthcare.
  • Must have successes in the following areas:
    • Successfully managed the process for implementation of new solutions and work processes.
    • Gained experience in leading multidiscipline, high-performance work teams/groups.
    • Demonstrated competency in developing efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems.
    • Experience in effectively communication with customer, employees, and senior management.
