Job Summary: As the Manager of Underwriting you will lead our underwriting team in assessing and evaluating risk for our organization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in underwriting principles, risk assessment, and team management, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of underwriters, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure consistent and high-quality underwriting decisions.
Develop and implement underwriting policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Review and analyze underwriting data and trends to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to optimize underwriting processes.
Collaborate with other departments, such as sales, risk management, and claims, to streamline underwriting workflows and improve overall efficiency.
Serve as a subject matter expert on underwriting matters, providing guidance and training to underwriters and other stakeholders as needed.
Stay current on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes affecting underwriting practices, and make recommendations for adjustments as necessary.
Maintain a strong focus on customer service, ensuring timely and accurate responses to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
Monitor underwriting performance metrics and KPIs, and provide regular reports and updates to senior management.
Full understanding of Card Brand underwriting rules for all types of card processing relationships (Merchant, Payment Facilitator, Marketplaceetc.).
Analyze credit information (Banking and processing) to determine if the profile supports the risk exposure.
Ability to perform a full financial review and spread financials to determine the ability of a merchant to support their process risk (as needed).
Ability to draft in-depth credit packages that require bank approvals.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Understanding of all the participants within the ACH Network.
5 years of management experience in Risk, Finance, Underwriting or credit analysis.'
5 to 10 years of experience in banking, credit, and/or ACH processing is a plus.
Must have experience with Merchant Acquiring.
Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation range: $80,000 - $95,000
Unlimited PTO after year 1 (3 weeks to start)
