Job Description

ASU New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences is looking for a creative, motivated, and detail-oriented self-starter to serve as Senior Marketing Specialist. In this role you will plan and manage the creation of a wide variety of projects in print, social media, web, graphic, audio, digital, and video, that engage the community, prospective students, and existing stakeholders. In this role you will serve as a member of the Dean’s Office, and join a fast paced and highly collaborative team, and will engage with leadership, staff, faculty, students, and external stakeholders to develop marketing collateral that will extend the reach of New College. A successful candidate will have strong attention to detail, be well organized, creative, have excellent design, written, and oral communication skills, be resourceful, a problem solver, and work well within a team setting. They will also have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, while balancing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines. They will be required to also maintain a flexible work schedule in order to attend evening and weekend events. This role is eligible for up to 2 days per week of hybrid work after onboarding and demonstrating performance.

 

Salary Range

$55,000 - $60,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties

Marketing & Social Media (60%)

·        Under general direction, leads, plans, ideates, and manages all phases of content creation for a wide variety of marketing content – visual, audio, digital, graphic, social media, web, and print – from concept development through production, for electronic and print marketing materials that support recruitment, engagement, and branding goals for New College.

·        Creates a workflow schedule for each project and coordinates the movement of the content development, design, delivery, and production.

·        Assists in identifying opportunities and leverages research and course content releases to develop marketing content into multi-touch, multi-channel plans including Paid Search, Display Advertising, Email, Print/Radio/Television Advertising, Partner Marketing, PR, Social Media, Sponsorships, Events and more.

·        Monitors and coordinates the photography, artwork, layout and preparation of the copy for publication.

·        Responsible for final oversight of marketing content ensuring compliance with project description specifications, editing, grammar, and punctuation, writing style, content accuracy and department requirements, and ensuring goals and deadlines are achieved.

·        Collaborates, consults and actively participates in new idea generation, brainstorming concepts, and making recommendations for creative ways to accomplish goals.

·        Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships to accomplish project goals and content needs.

·        Meets with clients to discuss themes and objectives for an assignment, targets audience and desired outcomes in order to create on-brand, on-strategy compelling creative work for clients and school overall.

·        Creates, updates, monitors, develops, and maintains visible professional presence for New College on social media platforms and performs behind the scenes work to maintain the online reputation of college. 

·        Utilizes social media monitoring tools and analyzes data to provide detailed analysis documents that trend social media performance and provides regular updates on the status of the New College social media environment.

·        Develops best practices, recommends rules of engagement and innovative initiatives for digital media.

·        Researches relevant social media content and keeps up to date with ongoing social media changes and innovations.

 

Web Content Creation & Editing (40%)

·        Under administrative direction, develops, designs, produces, edits, modifies, creates, maintains, and oversees content and graphic design of web-based materials.

·        Reviews content for accuracy and quality of information and provides direction for needed modifications or changes in graphic design look and standards.

·        Supports in the production of multimedia-based layouts, graphics, animations, video and sound; selects illustrative materials for use ensuring consistency, accuracy and compliance with all standards.

·        Demonstrates good understanding of the concepts, methods and techniques of marketing and graphic presentation good understanding of search engine optimization practices and basic database concepts for web content delivery.

·        Responsible for achieving uniformity of information and graphic standards per specified branding goals.

·        Maintains competitive analysis of other sites and advises on opportunities for further enhancement and development of web pages.

·        Provides input on how best to translate copy and graphics from other media to the website.

·        Identifies and troubleshoots errors and/or problems with web pages.

·        Serves as contact between the marketing and communications department and all academic disciplines or other departments that require presence on the website; facilitates timely resolutions; escalates as appropriate. 

·        Prepares training materials and associated documentation; Develops required project reports.

·        Assists in drafting and posting communication, e.g. email and newsletters, through various channels.

·        Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communications or related field AND five years’ progressively more complex experience in writing, two of which include supervision OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

 

Desired Qualifications

·        Demonstrated knowledge of the principles, standards, and practices of project management.

·        Experiene in problem solving, decision making, and exercising a high degree of judgment and diplomacy.

·        Evidence of effective communication including the ability to express ideas in a clear and logical manner with strong attention to detail.

·        Experience in print journalism, business writing, copy editing, and publication technology.

·        Evidence of effective communication.

·        Experience in organization, prioritizing workload, and time management.

·        Ability to work effectively in an environment subject to tight deadlines which often includes conflicting priorities.

·        Demonstrated knowledge of social media with high proficiency in programs such as of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram.

·        Resourceful, well organized, highly dependable, efficient and detail oriented.

·        Ability to take direction and work in a team environment.

 

Working Environment

·        Some activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse

·        Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds

·        Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts

·        Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions

·        Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop(keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals

·        Receive regular review of assignments for adherence to established goals and objectives This position may provide work direction of activities to others for completion of project related tasks

·        The position may require working occasional events in the evening and on weekends.

·        Some in state travel may be required.

·        Hybrid work is an arrangement where employee spend a minimum of 60% of their regular workweek at the primary ASU work location. Dean or vice president-level approval is required.
