The Resort
The Tides Inn is a beloved waterfront, luxury resort nestled on Carters Creek in Irvington, Virginia. The resort has been a cherished resort for generations and has recently undergone a number of renovations and enhancements that are helping the resort in repositioning the brand and overall experience. The resort features 70 luxurious accommodations, tennis and pickleball courts, full-service spa, an 18-hole golf course, a functioning farm, Makers Space (artistic activities), its own large marina, and two cherished restaurants including Salt & Meadow Restaurant.
As the resort has evolved, the resort is becoming more widely recognized for its elite programming, culinary experiences, and its commitment to environmental stewardship in addition to world-class service.
Basic Job Function / Job Overview
The Marketing Manager (MM) is a strategic, hands-on leadership role responsible for driving the brand positioning, revenue growth, reputation and guest engagement for our resort. This individual will oversee all marketing initiatives including brand strategy, digital marketing, PR, partnerships, sales collateral, social media, and guest communications, ensuring alignment with the resorts standards and business goals.
This role demands a blend of creativity, analytical thinking, leadership, and a deep understanding of the luxury hospitality market.
This role will work directly with operations (with an emphasis on programming, culinary and branding), sales, and other executives to align vision, set strategic goals and achieve results for the resort.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning:
- Work directly with each department and implement comprehensive marketing strategies to achieve business goals and objectives within each department.
- Brand development Work together with the Managing Director, VP of Sales/Marketing and all appropriate team members to lead the development and evolution of the brand including but not limited to visual identity, brand voice, strategic partners, events and programming.
- Ensure the successful use, implementation, and continued evolution of technology, systems and programs that will contribute to revenue growth, streamline sales/marketing and operational efficiencies and ultimately improve guest and client satisfaction.
- Work with operations and Tanzerra home office to find, develop, promote and execute partnerships and calendar of events that leads to brand evolution, increased revenues, and increased occupancies.
- Marketing Leadership:
- Oversee the creation and execution of integrated marketing campaigns, including digital marketing, social media, email marketing, public relations, and traditional advertising.
- Support the resort in the development and management of their annual marketing budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
- Enhance brand visibility and reputation through public relations, partnerships, and promotional events. Ensure brand standards are maintained.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages professional growth and development as well as builds a culture of success.
- Marketing Execution:
- The MM role is hands-on for all execution of marketing tactics. Home office will support the role with digital marketing execution and public relations leadership, but most items will be functionally executed by the MM.
- Items to be executed include content capture, social media postings, email creation, collateral development, website maintenance, departmental support and brand application.
- Customer Experience:
- Ensure a consistent and exceptional guest experience across all touchpoints by working directly with each department to ensure consistency and brand commitment.
- Gather and analyze guest feedback to continuously improve service offerings and marketing strategies that will ultimately drive topline revenues.
- Must live within 1-2 hours from resort.
- Bachelors degree in business administration, marketing, hospitality management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in marketing within the hospitality industry.
- Proven track record of achieving revenue targets and driving revenue growth.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media public relations, programming, and emerging marketing trends.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to think strategically and execute tactically.
- Proficiency in CRM software and marketing automation tools.
- Proficient with graphic design is greatly valued.
- Willingness to travel as needed.

Managing Director and will dot line report to the Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Tanzerra Resorts.
