Position Summary

UNMs Facilities Management has a great opportunity for a Master Electrician to join our Area 2 maintenance division. The qualified candidate will plan electrical systems additions or modifications on secondary circuits. Works on secondary electrical systems that are 1000 volts and below.

Facilities Management is responsible for the care and upkeep of the physical campus environment. Totaling more than 12 million square feet of interior space and 680 acres of land.

Conditions of Employment
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained within 6 months of date of hire.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.Possession of a current New Mexico Electrical Journeyman License (EE98J) and a current second New Mexico Electrical Journeyman License.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Possession of an EE-98 or EL-1J License
  • Experience testing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical equipment
  • Experience working in the medical environment
  • Experience keeping accurate maintenance records in portable recording device (iPad)
  • Leading lower-level technicians in performing complex repairs / providing structured training
