Job Description

The incumbent in this position is responsible for assisting in the development and coordination of educational programs and materials for the Seminole Tribe of Florida's Language department. The incumbent develops, implements, revises and modifies appropriate age Seminole focused thematic curriculum according to the Community's educational needs. The individual assists the Language Director in preparing oral and written assignments, cultural activities and lesson plans that teaches participants and/or enhance their cultural language awareness in different subjects such as the Miccosukee and/or Creek Language, Arts and Crafts and Seminole History, through the use of sound, picture, film and video technology. The individual serves as the point person in developing and disseminating educational information, scheduling, and organizing educational programs, and activities tailored to meet the educational needs of the Community. Associate's degree in in Education, Early Education, Media Technology or related field is required. Bachelor's degree is preferred. A minimum of three (3) years of experience working as a Curriculum / Material Development Specialist is preferred, or any equivalent combination of education/training and experience will be considered. Prior teaching experience and/or experience working with the Native American Community is highly preferred. Ability to speak the Miccosukee and/or Creek language is preferred. Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License is required. Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft software packages. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays. Member of the Seminole Tribe of Florida or federally recognized American Indian Tribes is preferred.
