Job Description
Carpenter Co has an immediate opening for a Truck Shop Mechanic at our Richmond, VA manufacturing plant. This position reports to the Traffic Manager, and is responsible for the inspecting, repairing and preventative maintenance of Carpenter Co. tractors and trailers. Assures that all trucks and trailers are available to meet the established shipping schedule to transport finished products to our customers.Daily communication with other maintenance employees, Traffic Manager, Dispatcher, over the road drivers and other managers and employees in the manufacturing plant. Works in a normal truck shop environment with constant exposure to temperature changes. Uses safety sensitive equipment in the performance of the job. Major challenges involve the timely repair of equipment to make sure equipment is ready to make deliveries to customers on a timely basis.
Requirements and Experience:
2-4 years of mechanical experience.
Basic reading, writing and mathematical skills are essential.
Ability to read and interpret a tape measure.
Basic computer knowledge.
Current CDL may be required.
Ability to work flexible hours and overtime.
Must have own set of hand tools.
