Additional Information: This position will remain open until filled. General Summary: This position will teach 15 credits per semester in mechatronics or related disciplines if qualified and will work to utilize makerspace equipment in courses assigned. In addition to teaching faculty duties and responsibilities, this position will be responsible for the design-build-teaching-mentoring activities of the CCAC Makerspace. Additionally, this position will assist with specifying equipment to be purchased as well as curriculum design, and other duties as required by the grant. Other duties may include, but are not limited to, facilitating tours, visits, and other activities in the CCAC Makerspace.


Requirements: Master's degree preferred in engineering technology discipline or a closely related field. Minimum requirement is a bachelor's degree with 1-3 years of experience in engineering or engineering technology field.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree in engineering, robotics, biological sciences, biotechnology, or a similar technical field, with at least four years of related experience in applying technology to develop the business case for ideas in an entrepreneurial setting, including: leadership roles at startup companies, applied research and development experience, product commercialization expertise, intellectual property development and other related tasks. Preference given to individuals with program development, lab design, and post-secondary teaching experience. Exposure to Festo and LabVolt equipment is beneficial, as is electron microscopy experience. Must exhibit strong attention to detail, manage responsibilities in a high-energy environment, and work both independently and collaboratively. Must also exhibit strong communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and an entrepreneurial attitude to creatively, adaptively, and enthusiastically take on many challenges at once. Must have reliable transportation and valid driver's license.


Duties:


FACULTY DUTIES:


• The primary responsibilities of faculty are to teach and to develop the curriculum. Prepare and provide students with course outlines that support learning objectives set forth in the course syllabus. Develop and measure learning outcomes. Assess student performance and maintain grade records.

• Create an effective learning environment through the use of a variety of instructional methods.

• Collaborate in the development and continued assessment of learning outcomes for use in program reviews and curriculum revision.

• Work with other program and/or discipline faculty to complete scheduled program reviews and to use the findings to revise the curriculum.

• Participate in appropriate professional development activities to assure currency in both discipline, knowledge and instructional methods.

• Participate in department/discipline, division, campus, and college meetings and committees.

• Participate in college projects, surveys, studies, and reports that relate to the discipline or program.

• Collaborate in the development of program and/or discipline promotional materials.

• Maintain five office hours each week.

• Support the college's goals.

• Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

GRANT RELATED DUTIES:


1. Work closely with the PI of the Entrepreneurial Makerspace grant, department head, and appropriate academic division administrator(s) to fulfill obligations of the grant.


2. Serve as the primary contact to students/constituents for digital fabrication - laser, 3D-printing, emerging technology.


3. Oversee the implementation and set the course for a successful Makerspace in its initial stages and completion.


4. Ensure safe operation of the facility while maintaining a welcoming environment that encourages students/community members to work in the shop.


5. Work side-by-side with individuals and staff to assist with the design and fabrication of their concepts and course projects.


6. Teach apprenticeship sections.


7. Assist staff and faculty in the teaching, promotion, and execution of laboratory sections, lectures, and demonstrations for classes hosted in the CCAC Makerspace.


8. Responsible for compiling grant reporting data for specified time periods.


9. Participate in lab social media and promotion activities.


10. Perform other related duties as required or assigned, including internal controls regarding safeguarding of department assets, inventory, maintenance of equipment, safety measure standards in laboratory.


The faculty duties and other duties of this position outlined above are representative of a maximally compensated full-time faculty workload, including overages, for purposes of the AFT CBA. No additional compensation will be provided for any additional duties assigned, unless related to non-credit teaching.


Clearances: Current criminal record/child abuse clearances will be required if offered the position and in order to be employed at the College. The three clearances are Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Check, and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Check.
