Job Description

Medical Assistants provide non-licensed medical support to medical care providers in an outpatient setting. Incumbents room patients; set up equipment and instruments, maintaining sterile technique as required; independently perform and/or assist providers with performing exams and procedures, including administering injections: collect, prepare and analyze specimens, including performing venipuncture; with proper provider authorization, provide instructions, training, test results and advice to patients; call in prescriptions; sterilize instruments; clean and calibrate equipment; clean and stock exam rooms; and provide proper documentation in patient chart. Incumbents may also provide front office services on a routine or back-up basis. Performs and coordinates general front office duties, to include but not limited to reception, co-pay collection, appointment scheduling, and referral and authorization. Serves as a resource for patients, physicians, staff and managers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSCertified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
BART or BLS/CPR at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
Two (2) years of experience minimum as an MA in an acute care facility or Ob/Gyn.
Medical terminology training or certificate.
- Two (2) years of experience working in women's health or urology.
- One (1) year procedure, reception, authorizations, and referrals experience.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).
If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable.
