Job Preview at a Glance:

Medical Billing Manager is responsible for timely and accurate billing of large volume of electronic and hardcopy medical and Behavioral Health claims. Responsible for the daily operations, coordination, and supervision of a team performing claims billing as well as receivable functions within the Client Financial Services Department. Develops policies and procedures related to claims processing and cash receivables. Identify and institute plans to correct problems to ensure accuracy and maximum efficiency to ensure a high collection rate.

Location & Schedule:

This a Monday-Friday remote schedule with flexibility to come in office as needed.

Pay: $67k Starting

Responsibilities:

  • Manages a team of billing specialists responsible for all aspects of electronic and hardcopy HCFA 1500 and UB04 837i claims and receivables for a large volume of behavioral health and medical claims for a variety of contracts and payers.
  • Ensures unbilled claims are identified, researched and submitted on a weekly basis
  • Ensures denied encounters are identified, researched, and resolved within 1-4 weeks of denial date
  • Reviews service codes, rates, and contract billing requirements assuring compliance to obtain clean claim submissions.
  • Ensure the billing staff carries out all its activities in accordance with CFS protocol, and that billers comply with payer, State, and Federal requirements, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Conducts regular review and analysis of claims to ensure contract standards are being met.
  • Monitor account receivables. Report delinquent collections and issues to CFS Director
  • Establishes claim-processing standards to ensure compliance with contract and industry standards.
  • Carry out audits of current procedures and processes, discover billing operations areas to improve and streamline for effective billing processes
  • Prepares claim appeals as needed
  • Create and update CFS claim processing processes and procedures
  • Provide training and motivation to employees to achieve their best performance and high degree of productivity
  • Responsible for hiring and supervising billing specialist(s)
  • Carry out performance evaluation of personnel and recommend necessary actions

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree plus 3 years progressive direct healthcare billing and supervisory experience. 5 years of progressive, hands-on medical claims experience can be substituted for bachelors degree.
  • Medical and Billing Certification preferred
  • Behavioral Health Claims experience preferred
  • Thorough knowledge and working experience of CPT, HCPC, and ICD10 codes, UB04 claim forms, HCFA 1500, HIPAA, medical terminology, appeal processes, billing and insurance regulations, and insurance benefits.
  • Experience with automated billing systems and data management systems required.
