Medical Records Tech- HIM FT Days

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Director of Health Information Management and the Health Information Management Supervisor, the Health Information Management Technician I is responsible for prepping, scanning and indexing inpatient and/or outpatient medical records into the computerized system. Ensure that all loose filing is attached to the appropriate record. Other duties include retrieving charts from the nursing units, answering the telephone, assisting with requests for information, processing of birth certificates as needed and assisting other team members.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

A. High school graduate or equivalent. Registered Health Information Technician preferred.

B. Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years experienced in a Health Information Management Department preferred.
