Cytologist

The Cytotechnologist will assist the Pathologist and Laboratory Director with oversight of the CAP regulatory requirements for non-gyn cytology. Also is responsible for performing microscopic evaluations on various liquid-based non-gyn specimens to the standards of the Medical Center and regulatory body, while maintaining appropriate documentation of all cytological work performed (on site or off). Requires the ability to enter data into a LIS and learn various processing and staining procedures, including Cyto Spin and SurePath. Must be able to respect diversity of each individual(s) values, culture, spiritual beliefs, and other socio-economic issues in addressing the needs of patients, visitors and co-workers. Effectively interacts with patients, hospital employees, managers, and other health team members while maintaining established professional standards. Participates in performance improvement activities. Other duties as assigned within the scope of training and certification.

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Med Lab science or equivalent.
  • ASCP or equivalent as a Cytotechnologist.
  • Strong interpersonal and Oral communication skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Experience as a Medical Technologist preferred.
