New Alternatives, Inc. is a private nonprofit agency that is dedicated to healing the hearts of children and teens who have survived traumatic events throughout their lives. Our residential treatment center is located conveniently in Chula Vista. Our beautiful large campus provides a setting where staff can engage teens in fun outdoor games, mindful activities, collaborative problem solving, mediation strategies and many more activities that promote self control, regulation and healthy emotional outlets.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Engage youth in therapeutic relationships and support the development of goals that encourage and foster positive participation in school and the residential treatment program.
  • Engage youth in life skills training, skill building, cultural humility and increasing coping skills.
  • Work directly with the team of therapists, psychiatrists, mental health counselors and other program staff to provide a safe, healing and therapeutic environment.
  • Complete clinical documentation necessary to track the youths progress, engagement in services, and high risk needs.
  • Staff work under the direction of a licensed or waivered staff member.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • BA/BS required
  • 4 years of experience in a mental health setting PREFERRED
  • Full Time & Part Time (Weekends) positions available!!
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred, but not required.
  • Must have adequate writing and be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
