Scope of the Position

At Ventra Fowlerville, the (Injection) Molding Process Technician is responsible for setting up and maintaining 1000 to 4000 ton molding machines, molds, material and their processes. Ventra Fowlerville has 10 molding machines.

Responsibilities
  • Ability to load and troubleshoot robot program and EOAT.
  • Utilize procedures and equipment to maintain or exceed 98% first time yield capability.
  • Assist Supervisor or designated leader, as directed, by providing feedback to develop systems and/or procedures that will improve the efficiency of the department.
  • Accurately program Injection Molding Machines and robots following production schedule.
  • Ensure the molding department is maintained and operated in a manner that will reduce downtime and improve the life of the equipment.
  • Ensure that the molding associates are utilizing proper techniques and maintaining the assembly equipment.
  • Ensure quality parts are being produced and respond appropriately to correct problems.
  • Awareness and communication of quality alerts, corrective actions, and abnormal events.
  • Document all activities as required; Maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.
  • Provide support and maintain compliance with all company guidelines, union contracts, IATF, ISO14001, and all applicable government regulations and standards.
  • Maintain 5S Standards for department.
  • Any additional responsibilities deemed necessary by management.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent. Ability to read, write and speak English effectively.
  • At least 4 years experience in a manufacturing environment that offered the opportunity to gain a well-rounded background in injection molding.
  • Use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.
  • Knowledge with arithmetic, algebra, and geometry and their applications.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills; Able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with all levels of personnel; Able to communicate/teach others regarding mold change troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of customer needs, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Must be able to perform tasks and deliver high quality parts that meet or exceed customer standards.
  • Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture, assembly and distribution of goods.
  • Be able to determine the kinds of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
  • Machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Skills to organize resources and establish priorities.
  • Identify problems, basic and complex, review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Ability to recognize the difference between short and long-term corrections.
  • Be able to manage ones own time with minimal supervision.
  • Gain and maintain the knowledge to understand the appropriate use of equipment, facilities, and materials.
  • Must understand and demonstrate 5S standards according to department.
  • Lock Out/Tag Out Understand and utilize procedures
  • Understand and follow plant safety rules and regulations; ability to navigate in, on, and around molding equipment in a safe manner.
