What Success Looks Like In This Job

We are seeking an entry-level candidate with the ability to be trained on COVID-related duties including basic clerical duties and capable of utilizing reference material for procedures. This position requires a highly motivated candidate, detail and customer service orientated with the ability to multitask. Daily duties include maintaining the safety of Adams County employees/customers through various methods such as temperature monitoring, distribution of PPE, sanitization of high contact areas, greeting customers and directing them accordingly to their transaction type, receiving and logging all mail or drops received in a Motor Vehicle office and various clerical duties in support of the Clerk and Record's office.

Examples of Duties for Success

  • Monitor/perform sanitization throughout the office environment and ensure proper sanitization procedures are executed upon all high traffic areas.
  • Administer/monitor customer temperature checks at building access points to ensure all entering the building are below the CDC guidelines.
  • Monitor customers at building access points to ensure proper social distancing.
  • Provide guidance and reminders to customers and customers regarding proper safety measures.
  • Distribute PPE to customers if needed.
  • Contact the appropriate designee should a customer not meet entrance standards.
  • Greet customers and answers basic questions[CS1] .
  • Assign customers to appropriate queues using the line management system.
  • Provide forms and informational documents to customers.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence.[CS2]
  • Assist and educate the general public on available State and County resources.
  • Empty shred bins throughout the office.
  • Assist in performing opening and closing procedures as needed by the leadership team.[CS3]
  • Assist in maintaining the overall look, cleanliness, and organization of the office, especially the public-facing portions.
  • Be always courteous and professional while exercising discretion and ensuring confidentiality.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications for Success

  • Ability to utilize common cleaning materials to ensure sanitization procedures are followed.
  • Ability to operate, read and interpret device which measures employee temperatures.
  • Ability to use a two-way radio.
  • Computer skills: basic
  • Mobile device skills: basic
  • Ability to assist customers with basic questions; refer complex problems to their leadership team.
  • Knowledge of interpersonal communication skills and ability to establish effective working relationships with County staff, officials and the general public.
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed.
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the position.
  • Ability to learn Clerk and Recorder's policies and procedures.
  • Ability to demonstrate the Adams County Norms and Values.
  • Ability to stoop, stand, sit for extended periods, reach overhead and push, pull or handle objects weighing a minimum of 25 pounds.
  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Work atmosphere may be noisy and hectic due to contact with general public in person and on the telephone.

  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Establish, maintain and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

More Qualifications for Success
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of one -year of job experience that include customer service, medical, or security background.
    • Experience in data entry and computer operations is preferred, but not required.
  • Education and Training: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • License or Certificate:
    • Ability to become deputized.
    • Class "R" driver's license, state-mandated auto insurance, and own transportation are required.
  • Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Other: Required to wear PPE during daily work to include mask, face shield, and gloves.
Location: Ability to work at various branch offices per the County needs.
