Nurse Assistant

Nurse Assistant - $13.01 - $14.88 per hour DOE (position is for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year). Traditional school year position. To provide the fullest possible educational opportunity for each student by minimizing absences due to illness and creating a climate of health and well-being in the district school.

1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. Certification in CPR and basic first aid from an accepted agency (i.e., American Red Cross, American Heart Association).
3. Clerical abilities; typing, filing and effective phone technique. Computer experience preferred.
4. A genuine liking for and ability to work effectively with children.
5. Such other qualifications as the supervisor finds desirable and acceptable.
6. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

• Maintain the health center office and health records consistent with school districts health office procedures and state guidelines.
• Assist with preventive health services programs (e.g., immunizations) according to school district policy.
• Perform health screening according to state mandated guidelines.
• Provide minor first aid and carry out emergency procedures according to school district policy.
• With proper training, perform technical (i.e., special health care) procedures according to school district policy.
• Maintain supplies and equipment, general housekeeping and replenish supplies.
• Refer problems beyond area of expertise to supervisor or appropriate agencies for consultation and advice.
• Translate for Spanish-speaking students and parents. Also, be able to write memos to Spanish speaking parents regarding students.
• Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
• Maintain cooperative relations with others.
• Transport ill or injured students to their homes when parents are unable to pick students up at school.
• Keep calm during emergencies.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
