Oncology Nurse Navigator

Position Summary

The oncology nurse navigator is a registered nurse professional who provides individualized assistance to patients, families, and caregivers to overcome barriers within the healthcare system and facilitate access to all of the resources available to patients. The navigator acts as a link between patients and care providers to facilitate clinical and supportive care services. The role is that of a single point of contact among referring physicians, patients, and other clinical caregivers for the purpose of empowering patients in dealing with the disease and the treatment. The navigator facilitates patient appointments for diagnostic procedures in the laboratory, imaging, other specialty areas, and financial services.

Position Qualifications

Education: Minimum high school diploma or GED required. Master's degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing preferred.

Experience: Minimum 2 years acute care experience in oncology required. Experience in multiple hospital departments preferred. 1 year of relevant experience in patient financial services, such as patient registration, insurance, collection, billing, or coding. Grant writing experience preferred.

Certifications: State RN licensure. Basic life support (BLS) certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. OCN certification preferred.

Compensation: $35.15/hr - $42.22/hr, depending on experience.

Medical, dental, vision, health care FSA, and dependent care FSA: All active employees working 40 or more hours per pay period are eligible for benefits on the first of the month following 30 days of active service. PRN staff are not initially eligible for benefits, and GVH follows all Affordable Health Care Act Eligibility guidelines.
