Position Summary


The University ofNew Mexico, School of Medicine, Department of Family & Community Medicine seeksqualified and dynamic Family Medicine Physicians who are interested in joiningits faculty and are passionate about service, education and leadership.Candidates hired for this position will provide patient care in an outpatientsetting and will support departmental education and scholarship efforts.

This position willinclude outpatient care at the UNM Lobo Care Clinic, with educational dutiesincluding teaching UNM medical students, physician assistant students, and UNMFamily Medicine residents and fellows.

The UNM Lobo Care Clinicprovides episodic same day and next day access to outpatient appointmentsfor UNM, UNMH and UNMMG employees, their dependents, and some retirees, as well as primary care to resident and fellowphysicians, and their adult dependents.

Services at the LoboCare Clinic include urgent care type visits such as management of acute orthopedic, respiratory, psychiatric, and genitourinaryproblems; STI screening; wellness visits; acute child and adolescent care, ages6 and up, including pre-participation sports physicals; and short-termmanagement of chronic health conditions such as hypertension,hyperlipidemia, family planning, depression, allergies, and asthma.

We are nationally andinternationally known for educational innovation. Areas of departmental educational expertiseinclude social determinants of health, community health and engagement,culturally effective care, addiction medicine and point of care ultrasound. Our faculty are major contributors to theeducation of medical students and PA students at UNM and our residency programprovides opportunities for rotations in both rural and underserved settings aswell as UNM rotations.

Albuquerque, NM is abeautiful city with Sandia Mountains to the east and mesa to the west. At more than a mile-high elevation, this highdesert environment provides beautiful sunny days but also the variety of allfour seasons. It is ideal for outdoor activities and sports allyear-round including running, hiking, biking and skiing. Albuquerque is 1 hourfrom Santa Fe, NM and 2.5 hours from Taos, NM, both world famous for their artand culture. Salary: salary and rank commensurate withqualifications and experience.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:

  • MD or DO;
  • Boardeligible/certified in Family Medicine by the ABFM or AOA or in General InternalMedicine by date of hire;
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience providing efficientgeneral medical care including prevention, wellness and life style medicine forages 6 and up;
  • Experience teaching residents andmedical students;
  • Interest in caring for underservedpopulations;
  • Experience in developing outpatientquality projects;
  • A demonstrated commitment todiversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working withbroadly diverse communities
