Position Summary

The University of NewMexico School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics is recruiting a full-time faculty position to join 4 other faculty members in the division of Pediatric Nephrology. The Department of Pediatrics is amulti-specialty group of >100 faculty at New Mexicos only medical educationand research institution. The Division of Nephrology offers complete clinicalcare services for infants, children and adolescents with congenital andacquired renal disease. Inpatient consultation is provided to PICU, NICU andgeneral pediatric services. A pediatric outpatient dialysis unit is on-sitewithin the Childrens Hospital of New Mexico. Pediatric renal transplantationsare performed as part of an active transplant program. Outpatient serviceprovides care at the Childrens Hospital and outreach clinics throughout thestate of New Mexico. This individual will be required to teach, provide clinical care, conductbasic or clinical research, and possess strong interpersonal skills.

The position is designed for a candidate at the Assistant orAssociate Professor level with a strong interest in basic or translationalresearch. The position also involves teaching of medical students and pediatricresidents at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine.
New Mexico is designated medicallyunderserved region of the country and eligible faculty may apply for variousloan repayment programs (e.g,. HRSA, NHSC, PLSF).

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Board certified / Board eligible in Pediatric Nephrology by the American Board of Pediatrics.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Able to obtain Medical licensure(s) in the state of New Mexico.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in acute and chronic dialysis in pediatric patients.
  • Experience in pediatric kidney transplantation.
  • Experience conducting basic or clinical research.
  • Experience teaching house staff and medical students.
  • A demonstrated commitment to excellence in clinical, teaching and service to our learners and our underserved communities.
