Position Summary

The Department ofRadiology at the University of New Mexico HealthSciences Center is seeking applicants for a full-time Neuroradiologist. This is a faculty position that reports to theDepartment Chair.

The candidate must be an ABR board-certifiedor board-eligible radiologist who has completed a fellowship inNeuroradiology or who either holds a Certificate of Added Qualification inNeuroradiology (ABR CAQ) or is eligible for ABR CAQ by the contract start date.

As a member of ourNeuroradiology team, the successful candidate will focus primarily onmultimodal neuroimaging interpretation with opportunities to assist in other subspecialtiesaccording to their interest or expertise. It isdesirable that the candidate have expertise in advanced neuroimagingtechniques, including functional MRI, DTI, MR Spectroscopy, and CT/MR perfusion,along with basic procedural skills in fluoroscopic guided lumbar puncture andmyelography. Neuroradiologists serve as primary consultantsto multiple subspecialty clinical services, including adult and childneurology, neurosurgery, and otolaryngology, and our team participates inseveral multidisciplinary conferences and tumor boards each week.

UNM Radiology has robust educational programs; neuroradiologyfaculty engage with mentoring and teaching diagnostic radiology residents,neuroradiology fellows, medical students, and learners from other services(e.g., neurology). Most daily clinicalassignments involve direct resident/fellow supervision. All faculty contributeto resident didactic education and are encouraged to engage in clinicalresearch or other appropriate scholarly activities. Research is highly encouragedand is supported by state-of-the-art translational imaging and image processingfacilities as well as dedicated research staff.

The Department ofRadiology provides services for the UNM Hospital, a 580-bed Level 1 Trauma andTertiary Care Center including UNM Childrens Hospital; the UNM ComprehensiveCancer Center; the 71-bed Sandoval Regional Medical Center; and the 320-bedVeterans Affairs Medical Center. Salary andacademic rank for this position will be commensurate with the applicants experience and academic background.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • MD or equivalent
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.
  • ABR board certified or ABR board eligible in Diagnostic Radiology by contract start date
  • Completed Fellowship in Neuroradiology, hold a Certificate of Added Qualification in Neuroradiology (ABR CAQ), or eligible for ABR CAQ by contract start date
  • State of New Mexico Medical License (or eligibility) by contract start date

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional experience, interest, or fellowship training in another radiology subspecialty
  • Expertise in advanced neuroimaging techniques including functional MRI, DTI, MR Spectroscopy and CT/MR perfusion, along with basic procedural skills in fluoroscopic guided lumbar puncture and myelography.
  • Previous academic radiology teaching experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and learner success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
