Position Summary

The Division of General and Gastrointestinal Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University is recruiting a General Surgeon. The University of New Mexico (UNM) Sandoval Regional Medical Center (SRMC) is an affiliate of the UNM School of Medicine. It is located in Rio Rancho, a large community adjoining Albuquerque. SRMC has 60 beds for adult care. It has 6 operating rooms in which over 3,000 operations are performed each year. It also has an Interventional Radiology and Endoscopy suites. It has a 12-bed ICU staffed with intensivists. SRMC is a Level 3 Trauma Center. The successful recruit will have a busy general surgery practice and will participate in emergency call that will include trauma coverage. This position is being recruited at open rank and open track.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Medical Doctor or equivalent
  • Board-certified/board-eligible in General Surgery through the American Board of Surgery or American Osteopathic Board of Surgery or equivalent.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in New Mexico
  • Eligible for State of New Mexico Board of Pharmacy certification
  • Eligible for federal DEA registration
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Residency training or experience with high volume acute care surgery
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
