Position Summary

The University of New Mexico (UNM) School of Medicine (SOM)Department of Surgery is seeking a board certified or board eligibleurologic surgeon with expertise in pediatrics to join the Department ofSurgery. This position is being recruited at an open rank, and open track;salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.

There are two current fellowship trained pediatric urologistswithin the UNM Division of Urology who provide services for the entire state ofNew Mexico. The division also includes fellowship-trained and specializedurologists within the fields of oncology, reconstruction, robotics, endourologyand renal transplantation. This position would work closely with the residencyprogram. The UNM Division of Urology and Department of Surgery boast arobust infrastructure of services and resources to help achieve academic goals,and leadership opportunities are available.

UNM serves a large,medically complex population and is a consultative resource for the state ofNew Mexico and the Four Corners region of the Southwest United States. Pediatric clinical services are provided throughthe main UNM Hospital, Carrie Tingley Outpatient Clinics and Pediatricoperating room in a separate wing, but attached to main adult hospital. TheUNM Health Science Center (HSC) is the largest academic health complex in thestate of New Mexico and is the only Level 1 trauma center. It is the statesonly site for urologic residency training. Located on the University of NewMexico campus in beautiful Albuquerque, NM, the HSC combines its four missionareas - educations, research, patient care and community outreach - to provideNew Mexicans with the highest level of health care.

New Mexico is known as the Land of Enchantment; the city of Albuquerqueis a beautiful city with mountain to the east and a mesa to the west. It isideal for outdoor activities and sports available year-round including running,hiking, biking, golfing and skiing. The state is multicultural and diverse withexcellent local cuisine, breathtaking sunsets, multiple cultural and historicsites, lakes, rivers, deserts and mountains.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications for Position:

  • Medical Doctor or equivalent
  • Board-certified/eligible in Urology through the American Board of Urology
  • Eligible for licensure in New Mexico
  • Eligible for State of New Mexico Board of Pharmacy certification
  • Eligible for federal DEA registration
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications for Position:

  • Fellowship trained in pediatric urology
  • Experience in management of general pediatric urology disease processes
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
