Position Summary

The Department of Radiology at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center is seeking applicants for a full-time Breast Imaging Radiologist. This is a faculty position that will report to the Chair of the department.

The successful candidate will provide coverage in Breast Imaging at University of New Mexico Hospital Outpatient Surgery and Imaging Services, Sandoval Regional Medical Center, and Veterans Affairs Medical Center, providing all aspects of breast imaging including interpreting screening and diagnostic mammograms with and without tomosynthesis, diagnostic breast ultrasound, automated whole breast ultrasound, and breast MRI; performing imaging-guided biopsies utilizing US, MRI, tomosynthesis and stereotactic modalities; performing imaging-guided localizations; and participation in multidisciplinary conferences. Additionally, willingness and experience in another radiology specialty (e.g., ultrasound, musculoskeletal imaging, cardiothoracic, emergency) would be beneficial. Optimal candidates will have scholarly experience and interest.

The position is responsible for mentoring and teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. Most daily clinical assignments involve resident or fellow supervision, and there are no mandatory call responsibilities. All faculty contribute to resident didactic education and are encouraged to engage in clinical research or other scholarly activities. Research opportunities include diverse and growing translational imaging and image processing facilities and are supported by dedicated research and publications staff.

The Department of Radiology provides services for the UNM Hospital, which is a 580-bed Level 1 Trauma and Tertiary Care Center; the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center; the 71-bed Sandoval Regional Medical Center; and the 320-bed Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
MD or equivalent
Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
American Board of Radiology (ABR) board certified or board eligible in Diagnostic Radiology by contract start date.
State of New Mexico Medical License (or eligibility) by contract start date.
Additional training or experience in Breast Imaging with qualifications meeting FDA initial and continuing experience/requirements to read mammograms

Preferences:
Previous academic and radiology teaching experience.
